I'm a Grandmoim!

Well I have some really BIG news! I'm a Grandma! Harrison Joshua Green was born on January 15, 2008. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 6 oz. and 20 1/2 " long. It's been a long wait for him to come into the world. I was instantly in LOVE with him. He is soooo cute and sweet. I'm so thankful that Mom and baby did so well. Way to go Sabrina, you did a great job of carring him and giving him birth. Josh (the proud Dad) has had a permanant smile on his face ever since Harrison was born. He has been waiting for this day for a long time. Way to go Dad!
And now for the pictures.

Just minutes after Harrison was born

And then there were three

Just sooo cute!

He looks like his Dad

Harrison wore this outfit to meet his Grandpa

I have the cutest grandson in the world!

Arkansas

Well I’m finally blogging something. I’ve been in Arkansas with Kelley since Aug. 3rd. While here I heard the annoying sounds of the cicadas, went to a museum, went to a way cool church, saw lightning bugs, the Bluebird Factory, a chocolate factory, went to Walton’s 5-10, went to see Harry Potter (finally), and went to the War Eagle Mill.

The sounds of the cicadas are not a nice sound. I read that in some places that people keep the male cicadas in the house so they can hear the songs of the cicadas. I won't be doing that anytime soon. It's an annoying sound to me. And yes you heard it right. It's only the males that sing and do you know why? They are trying to attract females of course. After mating the males soon die. The cicadas also leave behind dry shells. Some people eat them too. UCK!!!

We went to the Rogers Historical museum. We saw some of the Norman Rockwell covers of The Saturday Evening Post. They were from the 1940’s. It was so cool. I love Norman Rockwell paintings.

We went to a church that was way cool! Its walls are all glass and it's down in a lot of trees. We were able to go in and took some pictures. We also went for a little nature walk around the church. It was VERY HOT!!! The humidy has been very high.

The lightning bugs are way cool! It's so fun to look out into a field and see little lights go on and off. It's amazing to me.

At the Bluebird Factory we got to see them making the glass bluebirds. It was fun to see how fast they can do it. I guess they ship them out all over. They are called bluebirds of happiness. They had stuff you could buy and outside they had little trails that you could walk around and see other stuff made out of glass and other things.

We happened upon a chocolate factory by accident. We were lost and looking for the War Eagle Mill. It was really fun! Anything with chocolate has to be good. We got to sample and watched someone making cherry cordials. (They weren't like my favorite ones that Mrs. Cavanaugh’s has though.) After buying a sack full of chocolates we left VERY happy.

The Walton 5-10 was next on our stops. The Walton “5 & dime” was the original store from which Wal-Mart has come and is now a museum for Wal-Mart. That is the whole reason that I was in Arkansas. Kelley has been there since January working with Wal-Mart.

We finally went to see the new Harry Potter movie. It was really good. I think it was my favorite one yet.

The War Eagle Mill is an old working water-wheel-powered mill. We had lunch on the 3rd floor of the mill. We sat by a window overlooking a cool old bridge, and watched ducks swimming around. On the 2nd floor was a gift shop that we looked around in. And on the first floor we bought some mixes.

The people at Kelley’s work are trying to get him to move here. They are offering him more money and moving expenses. I don’t want to move. Kelley can see pro’s and con’s but mostly he doesn’t want to move. I guess if it comes down to having a job or not then we will have to take it more seriously.

I have also seen different kinds of road kill than I’m use to. Like armadillos and possum. I wanted to get a picture of a dead armadillo but they were all too squished.

Well I guess I’m an official member of the Geek Squad now that I have my new Think Pad. I’m having fun with it and learning about VISTA and Microsoft office 2007. It’s always hard to get used to.

"Little Women"

Welcome to my new blog. Thanks Bernd for setting it up for me.

We went to see "Little Women" at the Hale Centre Theatre last Tuesday night. It has been in the theatre as a play before but just recently has been made into a musical. We saw the new musical version.

"Little Women" runs the gamut of emotion. There is the fun of watching Jo buck the system time after time, the smitten neighbor Laurie and pompous Aunt March. But there is also the grief attending the death of Beth. I especially enjoyed Jo. She reminded me of my daughter Jodi. "Little Women" is a winner.

Our next play will be "Thoroughly Modern Millie".
